It is just adorable. It's pretty simple, you press a button and it starts to play really cute music and as you shake the wand it makes different sounds. My 3 year old thought it was so funny hearing a cat meow while she was shaking to the beat of the music. When she discovered the tempo button could make the music go really fast it was really funny and we all started to "dance" really fast to her music. For the price it's a surprisingly fun gift. Put music on and he literally will stop in his tracks and just start groovin:) He enjoys this toy because it's portable music that he can take with him and control himself. One of the things I was looking forward to was the way it would make different sounds as he moved it around, however, I was a little disappointed in this area. I was expecting some zany BOINGs and ZONKs...much like a hammer that he has....but the sounds are pretty low key and don't interrupt the music or anything....I'm not even sure he notices they're there.
